The Team debut album was in 1993 “Kirk Franklin and The Family”. Then Biggham hired him to lead the choir at the 1990 Gospel Music Workshop of America Convention. Biggham was impressed and he enlisted Kirk to lead the DFW Mass Choir in one of Kirk’s song “Everyday With Jesus”. This group recorded one of Kirk’s compositions that shot him forward and got the attention of a legendary gospel artiste known as Milton Biggham, the musical director of the Georgia Mass Choir. In 1992, he co-founded a gospel group known as “The Humble Hearts”. He continued under her authority and later became the pianist for the choir.Īs a minister, Kirk Franklin has mostly worked as a choir director. As a teenager, he studied music with Jewel Kelly and the Singing Chaparrals at Oscar Dean White High School.
